The Andromeda Galaxy (M31)

#1

Post by astrographymc »

Andromeda galaxy is the closest large spiral galaxy to our Earth. Excluding the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, visible from Earth’s Southern Hemisphere, the Andromeda galaxy is the brightest external galaxy we can see. At 2.5 million light-years, it’s the most distant thing humans can see with the unaided eye.
This was captured in 2 consecutive nights with two different filters used . And then those datas were processed and blended. It was my first Andromeda attempt with a Cooled Astrocam. Hope u like it.

Equipments Used :

Very nice! The 6 hours of total integration time show up well in the details of the dust bands. You might want to try adding a few 30-second subs to help tame the bright core.

Very nice! Well done! However, the background is clipped and there is no smooth transition from galaxy to background.

Beautiful job! Love how you were able to really bring out the blue nebulosity. Excellent details in the dust lanes. Well done.

Nice image, very dramatic. You might have pushed it a little too hard, but I like it.

Nice shot, got some nice detail in the rings, Can I make a suggestion. Take more shots at shorter intervals, ie a group at 90s and a group at 30s. Create and HDR image and combined the three together to make an HDR, Your longest exposure as the base, than the 90's on top of that and the 30's on top of even that. This will help out greatly on the core of the galaxy.

Hello Mainak. This is just fantastic Andromeda Galaxy M31 image. Superb contrast, core, dust lanes, and the spiral arms show up quite well too. And the neighbors M32 and M110 are there also. Thanks for sharing this great capture with us Mainak and keep up the great astro imaging work.
