Interesting colors Steve. Normally this target is light blue in the center with light pink on the two opposite edges. Your colors are almost the inverse of these. A unique treatment!

It must be from the L-enhance filter. I didn't do any special treatment.

A search of Google images for M27 shows many like mine and many as you describe.

Very nice. You just started to bring out a bit of that very faint outer shell.

I gave this a "Like" just for the capture. I recorded this for myself on 09 September 2021 between 2257 and 2341 hours (near to the close of the session). I found it only because the computerized "go to" Celestron AVX did all of the hard work. The telescope was the AT 115 with a Meade 14mm 82-degree and a TeleVue 7mm 82-degree. The views were nothing like this. I noted the find with a simple check mark and no comments.

I agree that there's lot of pictures of this on the Internet. I do not know that this defines a standard.

Not only popular with amateurs, Messier 27 is a favorite with professionals, also.

Hi Steve. A very nice M27 (Dumbbell Nebula) image. I like the star field, the bi-color nebulosity, and the faint shell that you obtained in your capture. This was a pleasure to view Steve so thanks for posting this up on here.
