This image of the Dumbbell Nebula was taken on a night of particularly clear transparent air. The Dummbell isn't as low in the north as some other objects like Andromeda or the Pinwheel but it doesn't get much above 33 degrees. Given this, I am very pleased with the detail I have managed to capture. Captured at the prime focus of my Vixen VC200L with reducer. 200mm ƒ6.4 FL1280mm.
When observing this object visually with my 18", I obviously can't see colour, but I can see much of the nebulosity seen in this photo including the faint outer lobes seen at the 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions.
