While imaging M39 with my 135mm Rokinon, I noticed a familiar blob to the east in the frame. Re-centering brought the famous Cocoon, IC 5146, into view. I didn't know these two were that close to each other. Learn something new every day, that's what keeps you young. Anyway, Cocoon to the left and M39, that triangle of equal blue stars, to the right, both in a field of innumerable background stars and a blush of hydrogen.
m39_135f2rok.jpg
Capture data; Rokinon 135mm f2.0 lens, at f2 for Ha, 6/5min subs, and at f2.8 for RGB, 20/1min subs. Camera, Asi1600MC-cool, IR cut filter, 200 gain, 50 offset, -15C temp, no darks, quarks, barks, flats, cats, bats, bias, just raw stack. Guided with Meade 4 inch at f10 and QHY5L-II mono at 2 sec rate, riding piggyback on BigDog Meade 16. Image about 50% crop and 60% full size to meet web site restrictions.

Clear skies,
Steve
Scopes; Meade 16 LX200, AT80LE, plus bunch just sitting around gathering dust
Cameras; Atik 460ex mono, Zwo ASI1600MC-cool, QHY5L-II color and mono

Cool wide field Steve. That's the great thing about wide field images - they provide so much context. There is also quite a number of LDN objects too - there is at least 9 on the left side of the image (just to the right of the Cocoon).

In capturing both DSO's in this image, it looks like you composed it to be so.
