A Precious Few Minutes for My Annual Visit to M16

While entering our 12th straight week of constant clouds in hot, humid Central Florida, I was determined to have my annual visit of M16 and look at the Pillars of Creation.

The Challenge....
Temp was 80C with 98% humidity under Bortle 7 skies
Seeing was not great nor was guiding
Due to the weather, I had to lower my cooling to -5 instead of the usual -10 on the ASI2600mm Pro
M16 is low in my horizon (38-47) with a high tree line and in the southeast sky- right smack into the LED lights of downtown Orlando

The goal.....capture what I can and enjoy the moment.

The result....
Well- I was very pleased for the whopping 45 minutes (9 frames) of Ha lights under the circumstances.
I've never taken an image before where I took more flats than lights :-)

Although not a work of art nor close to a very good AP image, that was not the point for one of my favorite DSOs. Basically, it was simply to do the best I could under these conditions and enjoy what I could see....and I did.

As a side note: I think this is also a tribute to the ZWO ASI2600MM as it worked like a champ.

Thanks, Graeme! Late spring and summer in Florida is brutal for astronomy, especially imaging. Thank goodness I am at least high up in my observatory or the mega-mosquitos would eat you alive :-). So this was a big win for me...LOL!
