Nebula near Cyg 30

#1

Post by Mac »

The smoke cleared considerably last night and the clouds stayed away. I saw these wispy nebulae near Cyg 30 that was showing in Kstars and decided to give it a try. I will comeback to this one and get RGB stars and check for Oiii and S2, possibly get a 2nd panel as there looks to be a lot going on in this area.

Well done Steve. Nice work.

This region is a real Cornucopia of DWB objects. In the upper half of the image there are at least 12 items cataloged in the DWB - from DWB 170 in the upper left to DWB 123 in the upper right. Most notable (largest / brightest) are DWB 170, DWB 165, DWB 148, DWB 123, DWB 129 (upper left to central right). (Didn't even get to the lower half of the image.)

If you do more panels (say a quad mosaic) with what you already have in your post have being the upper left, I'd say your mosaic would capture maybe a third of the DWB catalog. It would be an interesting project.

Thanks Jim I was poking around last night in between the clouds and have the targets all set, hopefully for tomorrow night. I am going to do all HA first and then come back for the others.
