M64

Got the famous Black Eye, M64, the other night. Doesn't get really dark at my latitude until near 11pm this time of year and this was imaged after midnight well passed the meridian, the galaxies are speeding rapidly to the western horizon, season almost over. Still using the OSC, one shot and done, an hour of exposures.

Specifics; Meade 16 LX200 at f6, 2400mm efl, Zwo ASI1600MC-cool, 29 of 30/ 2 min subs, gain 200, offset 50, temp -12C, couldn't get it to -20C, 65F air temp at midnight and the 1 amp wall wart needs to be swapped out for my power tank this time of year! Image seems a bit noisier due to that, but acceptable. Posted image 50% crop and 30% full size.

Other than the right click and open for full posted size, one third, no. Reasons: at 0.34"/pixel raw data, the image is grossly oversampled with 2 " seeing, the posted is down sampled to 1"/pixel and that is all the detail that can be seen, bigger is just fuzz. Now, if I was in orbit, well that is why we have the Hubble.
