NGC3372 - Eta Carinae Nebula

#1

Post by Gerald_db »

With my new mono camera in China for repairs it was back to my modified Canon 1300D. Was going to sell it, no more.

I am really pleased with this image of the central area of NGC3372, The Carina Nebula or Eta Carinae Nebula. It is a large, complex area of bright and dark nebulosity in the constellation Carina, and is located in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm. The nebula is approximately 8,500 light-years (2,600 pc) from Earth.

Clearly visible is the Keyhole Nebula, just above the lower tip of the upper portion.

10 x Flat frames.

Very well done Gerald and congrats on the APOD. Your image just reinforces why NGC 3372 is my favorite emission nebula. I have observed it many times over the years when I've been fortunate to travel closer to the equator. It is indeed very complex structurally and stunning through the eyepiece.
