M106_OSC

Post by MariusD69 »

Hello!
A capture from Sunday night, 6 hours and 35 minutes (79x5 minutes), with ASI294MCPro and newt SW 150/750. The third good night in a row ( last night was the forth- M64 LRGB waiting for processing). Tonight the series ended, probably the snow is coming back (I miss it so much :x ). Too many miracles are not miracles.
Thanks for watching. Clear skies!

That has got to be one of the best M106 shots I've seen this year. Very nicely done. The color is perfect.

This image is so clean I wondered if a new technique I've been using would work with it. The result is below with both the Enhanced and Original versions shown for comparison. Thanks Marius for allowing me to use your beautiful image.

Awesome! Great job, Steve! This procedure really enhance the details. And, I think it could be even better, if the background and stars could be masked, in such a way as we can apply it only on the galaxies (or nebulae).

You're welcome Marius. Good idea on the masking. Let me know if you give it a try.

So, I made an enhanced version (but only a little, because the image was already pushed almost to the limit). Steve's procedure with adaptation. Instead of making a sharpening luminance I made a mask for background and stars (letting only the galaxy for enhance), then I applied MLT for sharpening ( layer 2 and 3) and a little LHE for contrast. Then I opened the image in PS where I increased saturation and sharpening.
