M109 wide field

#1

Post by sdbodin »

Just a continuation of my post of M109 a couple days back. A wide field view thru my 80 APO showing just how close M109 is to the star Phecda, mag 2.4, in the dipper's bowl. Quite a contrast in brightness, maybe even interfering with visual views.

Imaged in AT80LE doublet APO with ASI1600MC-cool, gain 200, offset 50, temp -20C, 46 minutes total in 2 minute subs. Done 2 years ago in APR 2019 riding on Meade 16 while shooting M109 thru Atik camera.

Clear skies,

Very nice capture. And yes, that is an interesting contrast.
