M51_LRGB

Post by MariusD69 »

Hello!

The last two nights have been the best for months- new Moon, clear sky all night long and good seeing. Thursday night the weather changed from clear sky to snow fall in 15 minutes. Good thing I didn't get the lid off from newton.
I collected about 12 hours and 30 minutes exposure time ( 1h30m for each RGB channels and about 8 hours for luminance). I wish I had a better clarity/ resolution- sometimes I forget that my newton is not Hubble.
Setup: newt SW 150/750, ASI1600MMPro, Baader RGB filters, IDAS LPS D1 filter.
Clear skies!
* I'll put a crop version, too. First image didn't open at full resolution.

Hi Marius. A fantastic M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy) image. Excellent contrast, central core, nice sparkly arms, and companion NGC 5195 shows up well too in your capture. Thanks for sharing this work with us Marius, and congratulations on the well deserved TSS APOD Award today.

Your scope may not be Hubble, but that is a lovely sharp, remarkably detailed image especially for what I presume was your SW150/750PDS?

I'd be very happy with that image!
