M100 widefield with 80mm Refractor and New Light with 294mm-P

#1

Post by TheButcher »

Hey All,

I finally had time to play with my new 294mm-pro. I couldn't get SGpro to platesolve with it yet, and wasted a lot of time trying to, then gave up, and just let it go to the area, and then Sharpcap Pro took over from there.

So this is the first light with the new cam. I was unsure of the settings, so decided to use my refractor since I knew what the 1600 settings and time should be. And just chose 40 seconds for RGB. The gain was 120 and offset 30. I think that is what the unity is on it?

But I did manage to capture enough to make an image:
------------
I had 75 lum 20 sec(I needed much more lum to make it look right, so I left the LUM out of this image)
Red 32x 40 sec
Green 35 x 40 sec
Blue 35 x 40 sec

75 Darks/75Flats
-----------
So I tried 23 minutes per channel with a total of 70 minutes. I couldn't get anymore because of the meridian flip and didn't want spend time trying to reframe it :)

The ADU ranged about 2500-3500 which I know is high but don't know this camera well yet. Now if only I could get SGpro to work with it. My version of it is a year old so I don't know if it was confused with Binning and such. But Sharpcap updated its firmware for it I heard. This was at 2x2 Binned at
4.63um

I processed this with DSS then went right to Photoshop to bring it out and finish it up.

For a first light, you sure nailed it sir!

Wonderful image with really nice colors and a fine galaxy (or many galaxies) frames well. Congratulations on a very successful first light!

Awesome for only 70 minutes! Good luck with SGP.

Thanks Guys, I can't wait until my skies clear up. And got to figure out why SGpro didn't plateslove it. I probably need an update which means I got to buy it again with their new plan, since I can't upgrade without paying. :( But oh well.
