I picked up a used ASI1600M about the same time I got my ASI294M and have been using both since. But this
NGC 752 shot was essentially a first light image on the 1600 camera and I was just getting used to
CMOS.
I used 5 minute sub-exposures this first time out. They were pretty much too long and I saturated many of the brighter stars. They were over exposed, but the flip side is the image went fairly deep and I got the plethora of background galaxies for that region. I look at it that the longish sub-exposures were not a problem but an opportunity.
Only the brighter galaxies show in the low resolution image, but if you open the full resolution image or annotated image, you see a lot more of the dimmer ones. Most noteble of the brighter galaxies is
IC 179.
For the cluster
NGC 752 (also known as Melotte 12, Caldwell 28, Collinder 23, and MWSC 151), it is an older star cluster at about 1,400 light years distant. Also visible in this image field is a Quasar, HS 0150+3806, that has a redshift of 1.960 and a light travel time of 9.98 billion light years.
Image and details can be accessed at the link below (or by clicking on the
NGC 752 background crop thumbnail below). The annotated image (which shows many of the galaxies and the QSO) also has a link below but it can also be accessed from the main image webpage as well. Full size image can also be accessed from the image webpage and has an image scale of 1.75 arcsec/pixel.
