I started this project in january,i've had a long road doing it with many nights of only 1 hr of integration followed by clouds... my prior 6 panel m42 is mia  ,ahh maybe next year ... summer is the worst here, hot nights and hot days and alot of sweating, the last time i had a good summer run was 3 years ago..

any how here it is, 22 hrs of data at 5 min exposures in two panels s,h,o .

12''f4,chroma 3nm filters,asi1600-mm-c

my next project is the pencil nebula :), i've never seen it or imaged it before, can't wait till it's done .

ps, i didn't use flats or bias,, :) just too handy with pi

Absolutely beautiful!!! I love this wider field view of these objects...they're awesome and you did a superb job of processing!! I wish I had data lined up for both so I could try to combine the two.....I've got individual but not aligned for mosaic purposes, so I guess I'll just be amazed by staring at yours!!!

Just curious, do you use Pixinsight? If you do, I would HIGHLY recommend you check out Adam Block's tutorials....I've made my way through "Fundamentals" (don't let the title influence you....it's wayyyyy deeper than just how to use PI) and I'm now into "Horizons". Those tutorials can REALLY make a difference in your processing.....this guy KNOWS what he's talking about!!
Thanks for the nice complement! My processing skills are a work in progress!

yes i use pi, i have a steady routine , background extraction, star alighnment with distortion correction, gradiant merge mosiac, psf, deconvultion with starmask,ATrous Wavelet Transform, scnr removal, tvgdenoise, local histogram equalization.clone stamp for stacking errors ,mainly for seems on bright stars. that is about as complex as i go.. i need to learn pixel maths for the ha 3nm and nii 3nm cross over as those two filter pass a small percentage of data over eatchother because they are so close together on the spectrum.. this is a substraction equation

It looks, to me, like your workflow is very sound!! I too need to work on PixelMath...but like Barbie says "Math is hard!" Just thought I'd put a bug in your ear about tutorials, cause you're an excellent processor!! We can always get better!

It's more than just an excellent capture and excellent processing. It's just a spectacular object in the first place and you did it justice and then some.

Beautiful.
