Hi all I took this last night with the moon.I used my Skywatcher 80ed with 183c Gpcam,I used a Beader uhc filter with a light pollution filter on the flattener.I took 232 images at 40 seconds each and Stacked in dss and processed in Affinity and adobe cs2.I thought I would share as this is my first attempt at the horsehead. Thanks for looking.

That's a fine image Andy. Especially so with a full Moon and Alnitak shining brightly!

It was a very clear night last night. I was out collecting photons from the Flame Nebula. Your flame looks good, mine still needs processing!

Regards

Graeme

Hi Graeme thanks for your reply,I was experimenting whether I could use the two filters together with the moon,so that I can image as it only seems to be clear when the moon is shining.
Thanks

The flame stands out quite nicely. Moon or no moon, that's a nice one!

Cool Horsehead image. Nice work.

I see you used Affinity Photo but stacked in DSS. Have you tried Affinity Photo stacking? If so, what were your impressions?
And I am a bit curious about using Photoshop CS2 as well. Doesn't Affinity do everything and more than CS2?

Hi Andy. A beautiful Horse Head Nebula image here. Excellent contrast, lots of sparkly stars, and the nebulosity color and details are superb. Thanks for sharing your capture with us Andy, and keep up the great work.

Hi Jim thanks for your reply,I have tried stacking in affinity but does seem to stop responding when I put all the images on their program.I think it has teething issues as it has only been integrated into the software as us a new update.I use affinity for most of the processing,I use adobe cs2 for the shadow and highlights as seems to work better than affinity.
Thanks

Hi Andy,
Thanks, That's useful information.

Affinity has version 1.9.1 now. One thing I noticed in the change log was:
"...
.....Fixed crash when loading some CR3 files.
..."

I have no experience with the 183c Gpcam, so I don't know if it uses *.CR3 files.

Hi Jim I only use tiff files,I might contact serif and ask them if they now if they know why it stops responding when it tries to stack images,it doesn't happen on the previous version.
Thanks

Hi Jim thanks for your reply,I only use tiff files and they stacked on the previous version on affinity, the new version when I try to stack, come up not responding and locks in Windows 10 64 bit.I might have to contact serif and ask for advice about the software.
Thanks
