NGC2174 The "Monkey Head" shot during the Full Moon

#1

Post by BigKahuna »

Here is NGC2174 during the full moon over NJ. It was the 1st clear skies all month so I shot this. 40x 3 minutes (2 hours total). 20 darks, 20 Flats. It was great to get the scope out. 6" Reflector on AVX shot with my Canon T6 w/ L-eNhanced filter.

Hi Ron. A great Monkey Head Nebula image here. I love the color and nebulosity in your capture. For some of you to visualize the Monkey Head, rotate the image 90 degrees counterclockwise. Thanks for sharing this great work with us on here Ron, and congratulations on winning the TSS APOD Award today.

I am amazed that you can get that kind of detail when trying to collect data during a full moon. Some kind of filter !!!

Congratulations on the TSS award !!!

I did 2 targets that night. M81/82 was the other. I didn't use a filter on that. The single shot levels are totally different. Totally washed out. I'm lovin' my L-eNhanced filter.
