Maybe not really a quick look considering that the total integration is right at four hours.
80 light frames at 180 seconds using the ASI 533 MC-Pro/L-Enhance. Shot the night before last (1/3/21).
The quick look is the process. Maybe about 15 minutes in Photoshop CC. I plan to add more data tonight, so I just wanted to take a look at the data.
Cropped to only remove stacking artifacts.
I really like to use PS as a previewing software. If I have somewhat decent data, I can get a really quick look to see if I am on the right path.
Such is the case here with the “Quick Look”. There are lots of things that I can see that need work, but I will get to that later.
I am in the “bright eyes” stage of AP right now and when I see an image that looks somewhat decent to me, I want to share it. Then, I can calm down and take my time processing it with Pixinsight. Maybe a week or two, who knows.
I bit the bullet last week and bought the license ($292.64 US), so it will take me a while to get through some few basic steps, but I am slowly getting more comfortable with it.
Some background on “The Crab Nebula”.
The Crab Nebula (catalogue designations M1, NGC 1952, Taurus A) is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula in the constellation of Taurus. The common name comes from William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, who observed the object in 1840 using a 36-inch telescope and produced a drawing that looked somewhat like a crab. The nebula was discovered by English astronomer John Bevis in 1731, and it corresponds with a bright supernova recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054. The nebula was the first astronomical object identified that corresponds with a historical supernova explosion.
I am set up again and I plan to capture more data on M1 tonight.
Hopefully I can post an updated version soon with more data with processing in Pixinsight.

It is likely that skywatchers of the Anasazi People in the American Southwest also viewed the bright new star in 1054. Historic research shows that a crescent moon was visible in the sky very near the new star on the morning of July 5, the day following the observations by the Chinese.

I got tired of looking at the same target, so I just changed filters (from the L-Enhance to the IDAS LPS D-1 to take some exposures of the Bode's Galaxies. M81 and M82 are special to me as they were my first guided targets to image back in February of 2015.
Getting chilly out there at 2C. Going to hit the couch for a nap!
