Looking good.

I have noticed that fuzzy central portion appearing in images whenever I have tried to shoot with a normal camera lens. I'm not sure what causes it.

I like your avatar.

Hello Metastable

I can see your camera and tripod but your Andromeda image doesn't show for me.

Could you do an attachment instead of a link? Unless it's just me!

Nicely done!

The bright central portion is vignetting. The centre of the sensor gets more light than the edges, due to the design of the lens. It is not normally a noticeable factor in daylight images. For astro images, calibrating with flats will take care of it.

Thanks very much for your suggestion, I added 10 flat frames and 10 darks to the 20 lights (300mm f/4.5 2.5sec 12,600iso), and got a much nicer image with less vignetting...

By the way I used starry landscape stacker as it shifts the images prior to stacking since I had no equatorial mount, and consequently was limited to 2.5sec exposures which is why I used 12600iso.

Congrats on winning the award today metastable. Looks pretty good. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to see the image, but further down in the thread - there it was. A nice capture.
