The Helix Nebula updated 9.21.2020

#1

Post by JohnP_1 »

After alignment problems on Saturday night destroyed the whole evening, Sunday was awesome. I was able to take in several 10 minute exposures. This is the latest version of one of my favorites. All were taken with the Atik 383 OSC

scopes: ES ED102 APO CF MoonLite w/auto focus! FR/FF(s): Stellarvue 0.8 FR/FF FF Filters: Orion Sky Glow

Very nice, John. I love the faint outer shell you've exposed in the image, and the colors are fantastic. Glad to hear you recovered from the Saturday issues.

Very petty John. You really brought out some of the faint surrounding nebulosity. Well done.

Smooth as butter. Definitely one of the best Helix images I've seen in a while. Those 10min light frames make all the difference.

Thanks guys. I might have been able to push the subs to 15 or even 20 minutes. The problem is that I only have one or two hours on target and things go wrong from time to time.

Thanks. I even was intrigued by the hint of red nebulosity that appears in the foreground in the blue center region.

I decided to update my signature line to include the new image of the Helix.
