A humid night with some cloud and lots of moonlight. Seeing was below average, but I tried a short session.

I decided to try to go after NGC6888 using some tweaks with autoguiding, and an automated meridian flip!! I am slowly learning my way through the software used with the ASIair, and am getting familiar with its capabilities. I imaged this while planted on the beach near the astro cabin, August 30.

Skysafari: "About 4,700 light years away, NGC 6888 is formed by a fast stellar wind from the Wolf-Rayet star HD 192163, also known as WR 136. The star is shedding its outer envelope, ejecting the equivalent of the Sun's mass every 10,000 years. This stellar wind is colliding with, and energizing, a slower-moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant around 400,000 years ago. "


Frames: 20x300" ISO800 bin 1x1
Dithered in RA and DEC

Integration: 1.7 hours - I'm going to need another couple of hours to pull out more reds in this one... difficult target.

I have yet to try this target. Looks like I would need tons of integration time in my lp sky.

This image looks to be shot with your Canon since you stated iso 800. Did you say that you ordered the ASI 533 mc-pro?

I am on the cusp of ordering the 294 mc-pro. The 533 looks like a might fine camera, but I would lose too much fov even with the FF/FR.

This is another Canon shot, and the 533 is on the way. I know several that use it, and love it.

The chip is new and has a number of advantages over some older designs IMHO, including amp glow -> this means an easier job in processing lights.

From what I understand, ASI greatly reduced or eliminated amp glow in the 294 with the addition of a 256mb of ddr3 memory buffer. Even if I have to take darks (which I will probably do anyway), the fov is worth it to me.
