This is a
Ha, OIII (modified HOO) image of the Lagoon region with
RGB stars. The image also has a convergence of two minor planets (974) Lioba and (64) Angelina. They appear as
RGB tracks on the Lagoon image and annotated image. Two animations of their tracks and other information about them can be seen at the link below. Their separation at the time of exposure was about 51 arc minutes so they are separate animations. I wish I could say I planned the exposure sessions to capture this, but it was just a lucky catch.
Also captured in this image is the star cluster
NGC 6530and the three Barnards 88, 89, 296. The globular cluster
NGC 6544 just barely fit the field. The reflection nebula
IC 4678 can be seen as well. There is some variance between catalogs as to its location but the Merged Ref Neb Catalog reference [M2003] 744 location is where I identified it and is also known as [RK68] 83 and several other designations. I also annotated a few of the more significant Dobashi dark nebulae in the area.
Image and details can be accessed at the link below (or by clicking on the Lagoon thumbnail image); full size image can be accessed from the image webpage and has an image scale of 2.57 arcsec/pixel. The annotated image link is provided below, but that can also be accessed from the image webpage.
