Arp 290 consists of
IC 195 (UGC 1555, VV 309b and others), the smaller spiral galaxy below
IC 196 (UGC 1556, VV 309a and others), the larger, distorted galaxy above. These are part of Arp’s ‘Double galaxies – wind effects’ class and located approximately 165 million light-years away (

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours
Imaged September 3rd and 4th and October 23rd, 2019 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at
f/8 2432mm.
