M104 Sombrero galaxy - including data from 5/16/20

#1

Post by JohnP_1 »

This is a new revision of the Sombrero galaxy including new data taken yesterday with the SCT 8. I haven't imaged it for a few years. Since that time (Winter 2018) I have improved the focus and traveling quite a bit. This weekend adds an additional 6 x 120s subs.

The combined data includes data taken with both the ES 102 and SCT 8, each with the Atik 383 at f/6.3 and f/7.5 respectively.

Great job, John! You even captured the "pointer arrow" at upper right that I use to find M104.

Looks really good, John! I'm a little jealous that you got some time in last night. Upstate the clouds rolled in right around 9:00 PM and hung until about 5:00 AM this morning - hoping for better luck Wednesday.

Really can’t say it much better than this. The brightness in the core and the contrast of the outer edges is truly spectacular. I caught this Saturday night too, but not nearly to this level. Very well done and congrats on the APOD!
