M106 in LRGB

#1

Post by chartram »

Hello,

This was my run at M106. Seeing conditions and transparency weren't the best, but it was nice to get out... even if only "out" to the driveway lol. Not too many opportunities here in Middle GA to image near a new moon during galaxy season, did not want to let it go to waste.

M106 in Canes Venatici in LRGB
Imaged March 25th-26th from my driveway in Kathleen, GA, an orange zone

40 x 300s Luminance
15 x 180s R, G (2x2)
20 x 180s B (2x2)
5hrs, 50mins total

Scope: Orion ED80 (f/7.5) w/Hotech SCA/FF
Camera: ZWO ASI1600MM Pro @-20C, Gain:75
Filters: Baader 1.25" LRGB
Resolution: 1.31"/px
Mount: Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro
Guiding: ST-80 (SBS) on ADM MiniMax w/ASI174MM Mini (PHD2)

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques welcome. Stay safe everyone!

Hello Mike. This is an amazing image of M106 (NGC 4258). Excellent spiral arm and dark dust lane details. Lots of sparkly stars and just look at all the nearby companion galaxies. You did a wonderful job with this capture Mike, and thanks so much for sharing it with us on here.
