After over 6 weeks without a break I finally got some clear sky. Also no moon so decided to try my very first Dark nebula.
The weather did not really co-operate and between passing clouds, me forgetting what to do and some technical issues because of a new imaging PC this ended up at only 3.5 hours. I think it would need at least double that to start bringing structure to the nebula. But at least its a start and some of the nebula is showing. Not sure why the brightest stars are bloated?

Thanks for looking and C&C always welcome

Camera: ASI2600MC pro. QHY 163M with ZWO 7nm NB filters, Canon EOS700D astro mod
Secondary mount: Skywatcher StarAdventurer
For only 3.5 hours you captured a clear image of the Shark. Processing faint nebulae is always tricky when it comes to controlling the stars. Hope you can get some more time on this one.

Hi Steve, thanks for that. Yes it was probably the toughest process I've done to date and I want to pile a decent amount of time into it.

I will have to try a target like this sometime, but I am still struggling with OSC in my lp. I use an IDAS LPS D-1 lp filter. I wonder if the L-Pro would do a better job???
You have captured and processed a really nice image!
I certainly understand having issues. I had a mess of a session recently (spanning two nights) that I might share soon. Amazing how AP can go from success to very challenging from one session to the next!
Very nice David and thanks for sharing!

It looks dang tough to me, and having never processed one; I wouldn't know where to start, lol. But, for 3.5 hrs you've pulled it out of the darkness and produced a cracking image. Like Steve said. I can't wait to see what this would look like with more TOT.

Hi David. A superb Dark Shark Nebula (LDN 1235) image for just 3.5 hours of data. Excellent details and features in your capture and I really enjoyed the high resolution version with the annotations. Thanks for sharing this capture with us David, and hope you get to spend more time with this fascinating target.

Nice Shark. I think you're right....double that and you'll be able to pull even more detail out. The dark stuff does make for a fun processing challenge.
