M31

I can't get the entire M31 in my ED102 so the next best thing is the Radian at 275mm

195 x 60 sec. with LUM filter and the ASI1600MM. I started to collect some RGB for the stars but the blue stars were huge, not sure what's up with that filter. I hope to capture some color in HA, Oiii and S2 before it disappears.

Really nice Steve!

You nicely captured the faint edges of the disk.

I actually had two nice evenings and imaged the same target with my ASI533 and Sharpstar 61. 600+ subs at 60 sec. Your field is larger though with the 1600. PI is chomping on the subs right now.

Looking forward to your additional data. Still have plenty of time! Nice work!

Thanks Jim... I think I posted the M31 from the 533 and ED102 earlier in the week. This is also cropped by about 15% width and 30% vertical. Nothing interesting in the field cropped out.

I am running some new darks for the 533 and apply them to M17 captures from last night before I setup M31 and went to bed.

Glad you got some imaging time, I know it's been sparse for you. I will be watching for your work, always great work.

Ah, I missed that image Steve. Very nice details! The ED102/ASI533 doesn't allow much fov for this huge galaxy!

I imaged M31 with the ED102/Nikon D5300 years ago and it just barely (not completely) fit in the fov diagonally. Even with the 270mm of the Sharpstar, the 533 only allows a diagonal fit.

Thanks Steve!

Wonderful! Well done, Steve! Don't blame the blue filter, it's just a problem with the lens. ED doublet or triplet, they all have a lower performance on blue (more or less, depending on their quality). If you'll use a newton, this problem disappear.

Thanks Marius. I've previously imaged with it on both triplets. I won't be using a newton anytime soon.
