Skywatcher Pro 120 ED - upgrade from 100

#1

Post by Ben Cartwright SASS »

While I liked my SW Evostar 100 the f/9 bothered me for a couple reasons, first it is slower than my Lunt ED102 achro f/7 so the frame rate on proms would be down about 8 fps and I just wanted more light.
I finally decided to break down and get rid of 4 scopes and get the SW120, I got rid of my XLT120, XLTAZ102, SW 100 MAK, and the SW 100.

Today I went out to put it on my SW EQ6R and maybe get a hole in the clouds and try to time the 20 mph gusts. I got one prom before it socked in.

So far, 30 minutes use, I really like this scope, getting 18 fps on proms and 80 fps on the surface. the dual speed mini-wheel is able to lift the Quark and the ASI174 cooled, hope it doesn't loosen up over time.

Congratulations on the Evostar!
It is a great scope, I have one myself.

And about the loosening up, it can be adjusted. I did it once by now.
