Re: APM 107 ..I can dream, right?
I have only seen them in shop, why limit yourself to a 107mm
APM does make some very nice telescopes. I would not hesitate if you are thinking of purchasing one.

Hmm, something happened in the German to English translation as I linked to the APM refractor page not the general refractor page...

On this trip home I will be going to visit in-laws, APM is only a short distance away.
If I get a chance I will go look through one for you

It is good to see you are willing to make such a difficult sacrifice for a fellow astronomer!Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 6:07 pm On this trip home I will be going to visit in-laws, APM is only a short distance away.

I guess the only problem will be if you like it too much...

The trick is to take nothing that can be used to access the banking account.

Re: APM 107 ..I can dream, right?
I have had one since they first came out in 2011. Under APM's supervision the Chinese can make a good triple.
But why don't you look larger. TS optics germany has had a sale on the 115mm triple-51. I bought the lens and rolled my own tube assembly. Tested it a few days ago, had to cut 4" off tube to get to perfect focus, but it is so good optically. Just that little bit better than the 107mm. About the same length and weight. Where Jupiter was just good enough in the 107, now in the 115 details are more readily seen.
Had the 107 up to 350x on the planets. Have not used max powers on the 115 yet but really good at 240x so far.

Arizona- where the sky's are not cloudy all night.
Triple lensed fracs are so yummy when looking at planets.
