My new SV arrived in the mail today! Its got a focal length of 420mm with a 70 mm aperture.
I ordered a Bahtinov mask and a dedicated flattener/reducer with it. It looks very well made - and comes with documentation for the optic (nice healthy strehl but I'm still looking for the wavelength tested).
Images below - (click on the thumbnail for a correctly oriented image).
I think this scope will give me the reach to photograph most of the messier objects. Very impressed with the fit, finish. I hope to get first light this week - if the weather clears up a little.

Very nice refractor Ian, I am sure you will be quite happy with it.
Do not forget to put an eyepiece in it as well, the views will be worth it
Does the report have the ISO test number listed?
If they are still using ISO 10110-5 then they are testing at 546.07 nm

Thanks Gabby!
My first light will be exclusively using my GSO 2" diagonal and various EPs.
The report has the ISO number as 10110-5, so 546.07 nm it is.
Thanks again, that's very specific knowledge!

Very nice Ian, good for you! Glad it arrived safely and I bet you can't wait to try it. And I'd love to know how it works visually as well; Gabrielle is right.
I hear some people seem to think their 70mm's are just for AP. Can't imagine who....
Clear skies to you, mon ami, and yes, Gabrielle knows many things, right? She should publish a book; "Everything you need to know about proper telescopes"
All the best, and look forward to a first light report and some awesome images,
Mark

That would be a meandering read at best...

Perhaps but it would be worth the meander.

Thanks Mark! I may need to figure out a good Alt Az mount for this little scope for visual. Clear skies..
