I'd forgotten about this thread... Nice scopes! I notice the pic for my old Tasco is missing. A word of advice: Do not let your not-so-nice nephew use your computer, especially if TSS is still up and you're signed in... :flame:

Anyways, a repost of that and a few others:

My '61 12TE Tasco f/11.6 and the proof it's a '61:
12TE.JPG

A Jason 80mm f/15 and a Sears 60mm f/11.6:
2Towas.jpg

My '97 Celestron C80-HD at f/11.4 on its CG4. This was the last C80 made that had Vixen optics, and made the year before Tasco bought Celestron
07.png

On the same mount rides my orange tube Celestron by Vixen, bought as an OTA only. One of the first, if not the first, model of C80 made. Dates from the early '80's. I see why they are legendary ;)
06.png

And for good measure, my CG4 also takes a Vixen 70mm A70LF at f/12.8. My only complaint about this scope is the focuser; all plastic. I really need to find a better one...
05.png

And last (I think) is my "Towatron", the combination of an objective from a Tasco 55VTE and a cut down Celestron 60mm Astromaster LT tube that comes in at f/7.
The cap on the dew shield is actually the lid from a goldfish container; Celestron orange
Towatron.JPG

I really do like Japanese glass :D

All the best,
Mark

"The Hankmeister" Celestron 8SE, orange tube Vixen made C80, CG4 & AZ-EQ5 mounts.
Too much Towa glass/mirrors.

H/A - PST stage 2 mod with a Baader 90mm ERF on a Celestron XLT 102 (thanks Mike!)
Ca-K - W/O 61mm, Antares 1.6 barlow, Baader 3.8 OD and Ca-K filters with a ZWO ASI174mm.
W/L - C80-HD with Baader 5.0 & 3.8 Solar film, Solar Continuum 7.5nm and UV/IR filters with a Canon EOS 550D.

Oh yeah, and Solar Cycle 25 :D

Thanks Gabby, my wife even allows it to be set up in the lounge room !!!!

I also finished my big refractor setup today, the final item was to make a counterweight for the OTA to help balance the heavy Russian optic up front.
The counterweight near the focuser allowd the scope to move forward in the rings 2" and thus avoid any clash with the tripod legs...
I just found this thread: some great set-ups all round! I love your herd Matt! That counter-weight, not to mention some of your other work like the Tak binos and your amazing "Excaliber" reflector, makes my add-ons, builds and "fixes" look very agricultural. They (generally) work, but they aren't pretty like yours...

Keep up the good work!

- Dean

(PS: Looking at your brass scope reminds me how every so often I open the Moonraker site just to have a bit of a drool. For those who don't know it, here is a link: http://www.moonrakertelescopes.co.uk/te ... range.html We can dream, can't we...)
Telescopes: 12" f5 dob, Celestron CPC800, 150mmf5 Celestron achro, Tak TSA102, TV76, ETX125...

Eyepieces: way too many (is that possible?), but I do like my TV 32mm plossl, 13mm Nagler T6, 27mm Panoptic and 3-6mm Nagler zoom, plus Fujiyama 18mm and 25mm orthos and Tak 7.5mm LE

I wanted to add one more pic to my original post but when I attached and submitted it my post just repeated itself with the additional photo down the page ! Why ? PS: I think I had to post it as a reply because I couldn’t edit my post due to time constraints ! Pretty unfriendly if you ask me, every little addition should be appreciated / enjoyed !
