new telescope - are these markings bad?

#1

Post by Baskevo »

Hey guys, I purchased the FCD100 80mm refractor from explore scientific, and the screws attaching the dovetail were stripped and it was lose (and I think they sent me a used one b/c it didn't come with the documents or wrapping...), so they had to send me another one.

I received the new one today, and it had these markings on the inside glass:

Is this bad? Do I need to send it back again? :(

Not to add to it James, but off it goes... that sucks. They should at least pay the shipping for you as well; maybe they'll be a little more diligent on the next one.

Sorry to hear and hope you get it resolved!

All the best,
Mark

If it is an air spaced objective then it could well be fungus as John suggests or if it is a cemented objective, the glue is either breaking up or poorly cemented in the first place. Send it back.
