Wish someone would build 8" or larger Maks again. And not one-off custom items, serial production.

Hi Gabrielle. Many years ago, I was looking for a large Mak-Cass telescope. I looked on the Astro-Physics site and read where their 10" had been discontinued, but parts and accessories were still available. Now, I read about their new 14" Mak-Cass from your link. Wow, I want one, but $22K USD is a lot of money, doesn't include the massive mount, and it would have to be stationary due to it's size and weight, which calls for a permanent structure. And I thought that DSO astrophotograpy was a rabbit hole.
And, I remember many, many years ago, there was a Canadian astronomy/telescope dealer who was importing Russian 13" Maks. I may have to buy some lottery tickets this week. Thanks for finding and posting this information for us Gabrielle, and it does seem that there are a lot of new beautiful large instruments being offered lately.

Well, that just inspired me to buy two PowerBall lottery tickets. The payout before taxes is $480,000,000 US, so I could probably splurge on a nice frac.

Hi Olen. I hear you bro. It you or I win, or both of us split the payout, although I am happy with what I have, as a human being with emotions, I always enjoy the feeling of "anticipation". We could have multiple custom sky shed pods with a 14" Mak, a 175 StarFire or Stellervue 180 refractor in one pod, an Obsession 25" Newtonian and a Lunt 130 Ha solar scope in the other. Talk about an "Amateur Astronomer's Happy Land". Walt Disney never added this theme to his parks. The best of wishes Olen, but the fantastic odds are against us.
