Finally integrated a setting circle into my Z12

#1

Post by omeek »

I'm late to the party but finally modded my scope with a setting circle using the same technique as Bryan and some others. I found a place nearby that printed, laminated and cut the circle for $14. I used the PDF that was provided a long time ago by Optics Mart. I just need to paint the small side pieces that are currently covered with electrical tape.

It was a pretty easy mod (and really fun). Perfect way to get me back into the hobby. Now I am trying to think of other things to do to it. :P

That looks good Oliver, how about tube flocking and a focuser light shield?

Yes, flocking should be the next thing! I have a great focuser light shield already. :D

Flocking the Z12 should be easier than my XT8. That was tight trying to reach my arms inside. Haha

Took the scope out last night for the first time in a while. Just viewed the standard globs out this time of year and my go to object, the ring nebula! The new setting circle worked as expected and it just felt great to be out at the scope again! :D
