Ok, the term “carry case” might be a bit of a stretch. It has wheels and rolls. Basically it will make my life much easier whenever I need to transport my big scope somewhere.
I recently have been looking at options for a case for the CPC 1100. After briefly checking out the JMI case (nope, not going to spend $700+ on a case, no matter how good it is), I made a trip to Home Depot last night and picked up this guy here. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-37-in ... /203668066
The mount and OTA fit inside this box perfectly, I cut down and modified the foam inserts which came in the telescope’s original box and was able to slide them into each end to hold the scope and mount more firmly. A number of the foam blocks I had (from cutting up and modifying the inserts) were slid in around either side of the OTA/fork arms, providing a nice snug fit for the scope. Eventually I will probably line the inside of the case with foam and just use a few blocks and perhaps a blanket for additional padding, but for now this setup seems to work great. And you can’t beat the price, $69 vs over $700 for the JMI case. Plus, rolling the box on wheels and sliding it into the back of my van will be much easier than lifting the OTA/fork arms, carrying it outside, and hefting it into one of the seats with the seat belt wrapped around it. I’ll post an official review whenever I finally get to use this case to transport the scope somewhere. Thanks for reading, clear skies!
That is exactly what I use. It was almost as if it was designed just for our CPCs. When you're storing your scope in the box, set the box on its short side so the scope is sitting straight up. For me, its the wheels side of the box with the handle pointing up.

I actually got the idea off a thread on Cloudy Nights. I debated between this and a similar Dewalt case, but I like the fact that this case had a lock on it.
I put up a post on AF about four years ago concerning this case and my CPC. It is sad that we are losing this resource as an information site. There's a lot of good info going down the drain over there.

That's a nice solution! I am looking for a travel case for my new 9.25". How heavy is this Husky case?
Because of its weight AND size, even empty it is difficult to lift because it is so heavy-duty! Plus, it's hard to beat that price for a piece of "Astro-gear".
BTW, I had to make a ramp after my shoulder injury to get it in the back of my SUV when it was loaded with my CPC.

It wasn’t terribly heavy for me empty, mainly a little awkward to lift because of the size. I lifted it empty into the back of my dodge caravan without any trouble. Obviously with my 65 lb fork and OTA it will be more difficult, but still better than the alternative of carrying the OTA and lifting it into one of my seats.
