DIY DEW Shield for my Orion XT10i
Thank You all for the friendly 'Welcome' to this forum.
Here is some information that I thought of and that I can share with all of you. I was looking and reading many post on DIY dew shields... using all kind of materials, some bulky and heavy. Here is what I came up with: For my home made dew shield I am using a kids toy. It is a Teflon sheet of plastic and it is called 'Wacky Karpet' it is available in the US any time and in Canada it is only available in the winter sold by Canadian Tire up here. You can search for it on eBay. The dimensions are 18"x54" super strong - it is designed to sit on and slide in snow, sand, or on a water slide. I attach velcro and on the inside of the tube I add some stick on black felt that is from a crafts store. I went this route using this material since all the parts are already black including the Velcro strip from the Homedepot. My other choice would have been engineered ceramic tile underlay which is also a very strong, thin plastic with an attached fabric on one side. The one I happen to have left over from a floor tiling job happens to be red in color.
Any way.... maybe this is something that will help someone else, this is very light weight and water will not harm it!
Cheers, man1
p.s.: hope that the default rain doesn't kick in ...just as the telescope arrives.... ;-)

Re: DIY DEW Shield for my Orion XT10i
Yes the slider does work very well
I made a new shield for my C6R a few years ago as the factory one was to short and weighted 1kg! Much to heavy.
After getting it fit properly I painted the exterior in Krylon black paint designed for plastics and used telescope flocking on the inside.
