DIY solution - carry a 10" DOB tube

#1

Post by TSS_ASTRO »

Hi all,
I have the Orion XT10 DOB and I'm working on thinking up a strap system that will facilitate a carry handle of some kind.
If anyone has a DIY solution for this already - I would love to hear or see it.

Thanks!

Thanks very much. This was pretty much what I had in mind.
I bought about 15' of 2" wide velcro strapping.
Wrapping it round twice would make for a 4" strap.
I was thinking about building a long handle to go between two of these
But maybe I can simply build two separate handles
Thanks for your posts!

IIRC, somebody used large cable ties with one of those padded wrap-around luggage handle things. Two ties around the tube, one tie between the two around the tube and the handle thing around the spanning tie. Don't remember how big the OTA was though.

Same principle as the Strapworks thing above.

I'm thinking Strapworks could be good for transporting my light screen components in one bundle...

Hi guys,

I move this post over to this sub-forum to keep our filing system a bit more organized.

Cheers,
