Transportable Tripod Base

I'm getting old and feeble. I downsized to a SV M2 mount and 115mm triple scope but I hate it (is that a crime?). A 130 triple shows so much more on the planets. Do not wanna give it up or the dream of an even larger scope. Here is my solution to the can't lift anything blues.

Measure the narrowest door you want to roll your rig out of. Mine measures 35" wide. So I cut out a triangular wood base 29" wide for easy out the door in the dark movement. Use 4x4 wood blocks for feet. Been using deck screws of various lengths for assembly. Drill a tiny pilot hole of less than 1/8" and drive the screws home without the heads breaking off.

In the 3 corners need a spacer plate to create gap between the 2x 3/4" plywood plates for 2-wheeler blade insertion. Outline shows the approximate size and shape. Since the tripod is not fully deployed need thick heavy wood base to prevent setup from tipping over. I used a 6 sided triangle so there is more wood in base for extra weight. The side points are also easier to engage 2-wheeler in the dark.

I tried a single strap in middle for tripod hold down but the legs would come out of holes when tipped back. Need 3 straps to secure tripod.

A circular saw and drill driver are all the tools you need for assembly. Be safe use face shield and ear muffs also. You can roll entire scope setup around no heavy lifting required.

Arizona- where the sky's are not cloudy all night.

Triple lensed fracs are so yummy when looking at planets.

It was raining all the time while building. When done the rain stopped, skys cleared and tested that nite. Hey, this is Arizona after all.
