Another Canon T3

Last weekend, my brother-in-law gave me his T3, as he bought a new 70D. I can be gracious...

This is great. My original T3 I use for 'regular' shots, and hook it up to my C80-HD as well. I now have a permanent camera hooked up to my 60mm f/7 cemented-doublet Towatron which is always at the back door, due to sheer portability.
The Vixen diagonal and 15mm KK lens that have been in the 60mm are now on standby....

Now I can do things like wake up at 1:30 AM, check to see if it's clear out, and take some quick and even not-so-good pics of ol' Luna. And when you can't get back to sleep, add insult to injury and stack 'em...!!!

JT, nFA, well..... See, this is how it starts. You get a second camera, your buddies on some astronomy-type forum hint at you to do what you're already thinking, and then you realize you might also need an APO or a fast newt, a tracking mount...
And of course other bits and pieces like filters, polar scope, guiding scope, a whack of cables....

Six years ago when I joined AF, I was happy and blissfully ignorant with my one 8" dobsonian with its stock lenses and one pair of bino's. Then I met you lot Now? 11 scopes, a lot of mounts, 4 pairs of bino's, and more money on eyepieces than my other half has jewelry (she's really not a fan of it, thankfully for me).

I worry. The rabbit hole always beckons, and I have trod upon yonder edge with my achro-powered Moon shots and occasional manual tracking of brighter DSO's. The thrill of the capture makes me yearn for more.


And that is why I cannot mod this camera. The addiction is way too tempting, and I fear for those who live with me.
I can just picture the 4 of us (I'm including the cat here) eating KD on a constant basis, but Hey, look at that shot of M42 that Daddy took last night....

Anyways, being Sunday, I must go clean myself from Sunny's fur. I can tell winter's coming by her coat...

Hi Mark,

I hear what you are saying and I completely understand. It should be noted that the rabbit hole that is AP is a misnomer, it is really a black hole that has a huge suck force associated with it. It appears that, at least for now, you might be keeping an arm's length away from a head-first dive into the hole. But your arms can only hold out so long, [mention]bladekeeper[/mention] is a classic example of this effect. Besides, the mod is less than 200 USD. That's equivalent to one night out on the town with extended family. Trying not to put new ideas in your head but every now and then a person has to give in to The Force.
