A fun four day run

Far from perfect skies, but I have managed to get out for the past four days, tonight (Sunday) included. Most of that has been taking pictures of the big rock in the sky, but I did manage some nice visual; got to see the Pleiades through my 80mm f/15, some stunning views of Jupiter and Saturn, and some general meandering through the stars. I even found time to play around with AP. Nothing taken of interest, more just me seeing how the basic processes work.

Tonight was not to be for visual; I could see that coming as soon as the Sun set. I waited it out, and got some frames in between the clouds at about 11PM. C80-HD, Canon T3, 32 frames at ISO 800 and 1/400 sec exp.

And since the forecast is pretty lousy for the next bit, I know this will be the end of this run:

BTW, my "record" for consecutive Moon phases is 8 days, back on Sept. 19, 2018:

And I guess that's it for me. Should be nice sleeping tonight; back to the low 50F's (10~C). No mosquitoes out there, either. If only the skies would cooperate...:sigh:

I have had a total of 3 nights so far this summer. Last time it was 2 months between imaging sessions. The most recent was over 2 weeks ago!

I guess I’m on #4 now if I count a harassed Friday evening (I suppose I should since I did capture the Moon). I think I get shut down tomorrow, though.

Hopefully we can catch 4 in a row during the dark cycle too. I won’t know what to do with myself.

Thanks, Jim and everyone I actually ended up with 7 consecutive days, but you can only read so many of my lunar image posts before your mind starts to rot. I do not wish to bestow such sufferings amongst my fellow forum members

It was fun and kept me up way too late. The last shot was on the 14th of August, at 98.4% illuminated. That was gonna have to do, as it was 2:40AM by then.

And if I combine it with the first 5 pics from my 8 day run from last year, it actually works, with there being a difference of .7% illumination in the fifth picture (Sept. 16th), compared to what the phase of the Moon was on August 7th.

One thing I have learned, if you're doing this with a DSLR, keep the ISO the same; I used 800, and vary the shutter speed depending on the Moon phase. Keeps the brightness consistent. Only took me a year to figure that one out

This goes from 13.7% - 98.4% illumination; 12 days.
