What was your favorite observation of 2021?

Looking ahead to 2022 and behind to 2021 on this New Year's Eve Day, what was your favorite observation over the past year? Last year refractordude asked a similar question on this day and the consensus was comet Neowise. So will it be Leonard, or something else....?

I don't remember. I actually had one lousy chance of observation last spring.
The weathers, and problems with gear...

It has to be the evening of 27 September 2021 which I reported. Most other evenings were unreported and routine visits with old friends.

Interesting! For me it was the Geminids Meteor shower...358 meteors! Quite the show and my best ever meteor shower!!

Mine was the evening of November 30. My son Eric was visiting from Tennessee here to help me with a bunch of projects around the property and on this clear but cold evening we rolled out the Orion 14” dob for some observing. We began with Jupiter and then Saturn fading into the southwest and then on to the Cat’s Eye (ngc6543). We were slightly disappointed that the Hercules Cluster (m13) was too low to view. We moved on to the Ring Nebula (m57) in a beautiful star field and the Double-Double (epsilon Lyrae). We experimented with various eyepieces as we viewed the Dumbbell (m27), the Blinking Planetary (ngc6826), the Andromeda Galaxy (m31) along with m32 and m110 and over to ngc404 Mirach’s Ghost. We saw many more beautiful and interesting objects that night but we ended the session with the Orion Nebula (m42) checking out the trapezium nestled down in what I call the rabbit hole. We had such a great time scanning and discussing the bright nebula and the bat wing which was breathtaking. After that we were cold and put everything away. I think this was my favorite observation and favorite session of the year.

Probably the increased sun spot activity throughout the year

New - Open cluster NGC 2362. I didn't have a recollection or any notes on observing it before. In my scopes, it's a triangular shape with a bright central star. The Trek nerd in me thinks it would make a cool badge for a uniform.

Old - Pleiades. I took some time to observe it at length instead of my usual, "Yup, seven bright stars, no nebulosity, move on." It really is a beautiful, complex cluster worthy of study.

Transient - I was clouded out for Leonard, so that was a no-op. I did watch a very nice flyover of Tiangong / Tianhe space station. Bright, track almost intersected the zenith.

I have lots of highlight telescopic obs during the year 37 Messiers in one session, spotting Polarisima Australis, but probably the simple pleasure of a few nights during the year when the transparency was so high, I had to wear sunglasses to look at the Milky Way. On some of these nights, I was photographing and didn't have a visual scope set up. But just sitting out under the stars and looking up and appreciating all that I have was just glorious to behold.

If I may, I'll add a second. It was my visual observation of Pluto...with photographic confirmation! Quite exciting!!

I was able to enjoy many outings in the first half of 2021. Things came to a bit of a halt in August.
The two Lunar eclipses were Highlights for me... May and November. The November eclipse reignited my energies and for both eclipses I was able to record my views with some nice photos.
