Woke up around 0500, so I popped out with my 15x70s. Lots of moonlight, but I was able to get a nice view of OC M47 in Puppis. Unfortunately, it's dimmer companion M46 was nowhere to be seen. :Astronomer1:

I also determined that 55 degrees altitude is about the max I can do comfortably with binos on a tripod without a reclining seat of some kind. Gotta love the ginormous FOV though.

Hello Olen. Well, sometimes binoculars are the best tool for a quick look and you did find the open cluster M47. Thanks for the quick look report Olen and keep looking up.

Nice catch Olen! For binos 70mm and smaller I prefer to use monopod while reclining vs AltAz mount.
