Seen m32 very quickly tonight! andromedas satellite galaxy!

using a cheap 30$ 70mm F6 doublet refractor telescope.
in bortle 6-7 with some modifications done to it.
i could see M32 quite quickly in averted vision! it was just right there. it only took a few minutes for my eyes to adapt enough to see it in averted vision.
I saw it right where it should be expected! As well as andromeda galaxy too. brighter and easier to see than M32
It was also cloudy on and off tonight too.
still very very faint. but a lot easier to spot than last time I saw it.

I'm getting a new star diagonal cause my current one is kind of ruined. some weird blue haze has developed on the surface. and a lot of tiny scratches. pretty sure its degrading the contrast.
I'm getting one with a dielectric surface for its tougher coating. cause the one I have seems to have no coating at all. the surface is just disintegrating over time
the extra percentage of reflected light is just a bonus!

I hope I can see even more with the new diagonal!

The new diagonal sounds like a good idea.
As for M32...it took a long time for me to recognize that I was seeing it. 😊
M110 is also nearby. It is less bright...less concentrated than M32. It may have been in your fov, but if the transparency was poor it may not reveal.
Thank you realflow, for sharing your triumph on M32.

Yeah the transparency is always terrible here. as well as being a quite high bortle level. Usually its like a high bortle 7 or low bortle 8. sometimes dips down to a high bortle 6 or low bortle 7 on exceptionally clear moonless nights. but that only happens sometimes when its partly cloudy. Like once every few months.

but maybe with my new 150$ dielectric 90 degree star diagonal I just got (brand new) it will be detectable as well in averted vision!
Just some quick testing in the daytime and the contrast improvement is absurdly unreal compared to the non-dielectric eyepiece i was using. its like looking through a portal to another universe now!
Slightly brighter too. seems a tiny bit sharper too.
No more slight flare/glow around the edge of the field of view with low power eyepieces anymore! just deep contrast all around
