Took a look at U Sagittae last night between clouds. This is an Algol-type eclipsing binary ranging from mag 6.5 to a little dimmer than 9. The period is listed as 3.38 days. I didn't look up the phase, but I thought I might luck out and catch an eclipse. Nope.
But my main goal was to find it which was quite easy. It's close to the end of the Coathanger (Cr 399) in the same wide FOV and in a line of three roughly mag 6 stars, of which U is the center star.
I had to wait a bit for it to clear the neighbor's tree, but as it rises earlier with summer coming, I'm going to try to make it a habit to take a quick look whenever I'm out. Maybe I'll catch a minimum of these nights.

Thanks for the report pakarinen, and congrats on winning the TSSVROD of the day for June 3rd, 2021 for pointing out a class of objects which are probably not frequently observed by amateurs outside of variable star observers. But there are so many diverse targets up in the sky that there is something new to see every night.

Well yee hah, it looks like it’s close to minimum right now. Didn’t catch the start of the eclipse, but it’s been quite dim for the last 30 minutes. IIRC mins last about an hour and 45 minutes. I’ll have to check mags of some field stars for comparison.

I've never been interested in variable stars too much, but your report has peaked my interest. Fast eclipsing binaries? I think I might want to get in on that! Definitely worth seeing.
