Been playing with my new binos, so I changed it up today and took out the 80mm. Always experimenting, I put my SW AZ5 mount on my Benro photopod just to see how bad the vibes would be; compared to my 475B, pretty bad. Even fine focusing had too much shake for me. But I let them damp down and caught a few vanilla summer objects:

M92
The Ring
Dumbbell
Coathanger Cluster
Stephenson 1 (Delta Lyrae) Cluster
Albireo
Random starfields around Altair
Antares but no M4. No surprise - M4 is always difficult here, even in my 120.
And DST starts tomorrow, so we're on the way to night starting at 2200. :Boo: OTOH, my sleep schedule never really adjusted to standard time, so maybe it's a good thing.

That was with my 80mm refractor. I've never been able to catch the Ring or Dumbbell here with binos. I did find a nice asterism in Cygnus this morning that reminds me of a mini-Corona Borealis with the Orions.

Congrats on winning the VROD, Olen! And what a nice session with the ST80. You observed some of my favorites, although I have never seen the Dumbbell or the Coathanger cluster yet. Now I am inspired to look for them.
I didn't get to observe last night, and the moon was very bright here. I love the ST80 and I will never part with it, especially since I upgraded the focuser that cost as much as the scope!
