here is my observation report of m 42, melotte 25 and m 45.
to begin with I was surprised to learn that someone else was looking at m42 at the same time as me and with the same instrument and in addition that he was also making a sketch. hi John baars.
so here I started by taking out my telescope at 8:30 pm to cool it down.
temperature here -15 Celsius.
no wind, cloudless sky.
the quality of the sky was very good, beautiful transparency, and calm at high altitude.
I started with the naked eye towards the Hyades, always a spectacle of great beauty.
then towards m45, the Pleiades.
I could see more than the 7 sisters.
there were several stars that I almost never see except with binoculars of course.
and then on the way to m42.
I watch with my evostar 120mm ed, uhc celestron baader filter and my 10mm, 6mm and 4.5mm delos.
what a divine beauty m42, I had never looked with a filter, wow, what a difference to me.
the trapezoid is very clear, very easy to distinguish the 4.
I saw the nebuleuse like never before, I even removed the filter to see the difference, it was still very good but the filter allowed me to see more.
it was an exceptional evening for me, I made a sketch, which in short is very rudimentary.
