A heads up... the Moon and Mars tonight

#1

Post by Thefatkitty »

I just came in from having some more quality time at the "fire rim". As the embers were dying down, my skies cleared and I took a look to the east at the rising Moon, and Mars is a bright red dot less than a degree away from it.

I will get back to this later; time to take out my Towatron and C80-HD with my T2i :D

TTYL,
Mark

Just came in myself. Yeah, a great observation. That photo will be appreciated.

Well that worked. As my fire died down, I took out my two scopes mentioned above and took some shots. I have a lot of conjunction pictures with the Moon with Venus, Jupiter and Saturn being the partners. Only one of the Moon and Mars, but as of tonight, the second one and an even better and closer event. Too bad the sky had some white haze...

My dying fire, and some single frames of the Moon and Mars with my C80-HD at f/11.3 and my 60mm Towatron at f/6. Just after 2AM here; must sleep. Have to see Sunny the dog tomorrow.... ;)

I've been watching too. I posted a series of photos last month when they put on a very similar show. Not as nice as yours, I used the stock Canon lens at 50mm. Nice photos, Mark!

Just clouds and smoke here. Plus it was 88 degrees last night. Heat wave...

I got me a video of the Moon/Mars last night. I have a lot of processing to do, but I hope to get it done this week. My video was taken about 0140 and look much like your image. Nice!

Saw it that night Mark. Otherwise, I haven't been observing for the past few weeks - this is the first time in a while I've been on the AF.
Scopes: Reflectors, refractors, and 1 catadioptric. Ranging in aperture from 50mm to 150mm.

Glad you saw it too, been the best and pretty much only observing since then for me as well. So much haze here...!! Nice to hear from you and take care :D

All the best,
Mark
