Neowise streak

Greetings,

My streak of consecutive days seeing Neowise naked-eye came to an end last week, however the binoculars-aided streak lives on. Fourteen days and counting. I feel kind-of bad for all those that have missed it due to crappy weather, etc. Smoke from nearby wildfires (arson) may end the streak. Stupid people and their matches.
I really have empathy for those unfortunate enough to have been unable to spot this space traveler.

Reminds me of the many times that I saw Hale Bopp Year’s ago. Lifetime memories for sure.

I was fortunate enough to see Neowise once with binos and a 5 second photo. No naked eye though. Maybe next time.

That's pretty cool Paul. Keep it going! I remember leaving work late on many eves and seeing Hale-Bopp up there in the sky as I drove along in my miata. Pretty much unforgettable.

Streak continues, 16 days. Lack of Moon helped tonight, definitely dimming. Using Oberwerk 9 X 60 binoculars.

Good on August 5, marching toward/beneath Arcturus. Still spotting with 9 x 60 Oberwerks, without averted vision. Hint of tail still evident.

Bonus to the Neowise streak. Tonight, given its proximity to M53 I was able to get both of them. Had to step up to the 12 X 60, however. The comet was still visible in the 9 X 60, but not M53. Sure is staying clear up here. Hooray.

I picked it up last night too. Been a week and a half since last sighting it. Really faded into the night, maybe 5th mag. No noticeable bright nucleus just a 'comet green' glow about moon size and a very slight hint of a tail. Used my 11x70 binos, didn't pick up M53 either, but only spent 5 minutes on the look see.

Saw it again last night in the 15x70 binos. A lot better view as I realized yesterday that the collimation was slightly off. Spent a couple of hours collimating them until I felt satisfied. So by 9:45 I was able to sweep up the comet easily. Fog was rolling in though so it stopped me from setting up the AR152.

Hi Paul. I am one of the few that missed it, but not because I didn't try. When I was on the phone with my brother in Illinois yesterday, he could here the thunder from the storm in the background that we had, and more rain is expected today here in Florida. It seems like when there is a great astronomical event about to happen, either the bright moon or rain clouds move in and ruin it. However, I am glad for your Comet Neowise streak success Paul, and the best of regards.

Now at 21 days. Getting very difficult with 9 X 60 binoculars (from home). Last night was at a darker sky place and the three of us had no trouble picking it out. Fire smoke drifting about so we'll see what tomorrow brings. By the way...M13 is spectacular with an 8.8mm eyepiece in the 18" Obsession. The entire FOV was filled with glob.

Plus one tonight, successfully dimmed since last night. Doesn't move much from one night to the next now. Hangs out much longer.

No, the fire smoke was/is all headed east through Palm Springs and north of there.

Saw it again tonight. When will these cloudless nights end? Dimming by the day.
