Recent Project
Last spring not long after buying my CPC 1100 and Vixen A80MF, I bought a used Astro Tech Voyager mount from another club member during one of my volunteer nights at Fox Park Observatory. This has proven to be a nice, sturdy alt/az mount for my Vixen refractor. A couple weeks ago I decided to start a little project. I managed to remove my Powerseeker 114 (a 4.5” f/ 8 Newtonian) from the very flimsy alt/az mount the scope was sold with. Unfortunately, because of the design of this mount removing it left a few small open screw holes in the OTA . No problem, I happened to have some black electrical tape which almost perfectly matches the color of the scope. Problem solved! Ordered a set of Orion tube rings (which came in the mail last week) and I now have my Powerseeker (which has very nice optics for a smaller Newt) mounted on the Voyager mount. I still have yet to test out this combo, but initial impressions are that this mount seems to have no trouble holding the OTA . The listed capacity is 20 lbs and the OTA is nowhere near that weight. Now just hoping for a clear night soon to test this out.

Re: Recent Project
That sounds awesome. Remember though, it didn't happen if you don't show pictures! Besides, I would love to see this mount.
Cheers,
