I looking for a light weight tracking mount for my C90 Mak.
Something to hold the Moon and planets in view for visual only.
No plans for AP.

What are my options other than an EQ1, which I really don't want.

Thanks :)

An EQ-2 or EQ-3 would work with a C90, if goto is wanted a SLT mount would work nicely for this.

Yes, unfortunately nobody sells an EQ2 any more :(

I have an EQ3, Orion Astroview, I was hoping to find something lighter. It's almost overkill for the little C90.

I thought about making a wedge for my Vixen Porta Mount ;)

Hmm, this looks nice, a little pricey for my needs, but I like:

Exos Nano? Manual mount but lots of discussions out there about adding a motor.

Yes, that is my first contender right now :)

Or make that wedge for the Porta Mount, wouldn't that be cool? :)

I don't need a motor driven mount, might be nice, but I want real simplicity for the set up.
I want something for travel, yet tracking to share the view :)

I think I may pull the trigger on the Exos Nano :)

Does it have to be an EQ mount?

HI Jeff,

I have bought both a Celestron SLT and GT goto mounts from eBay. Both work very well for their intended purpose -- a quick G&G setup. I plop the tripod on the ground give it a quick one-star align and away you go with a decent tracking mount that will more than handle the weight of your C90. Both mounts are rated at 8lbs of payload. If you already have a tripod then you only need the mount head itself. I got the GT for $50 and the SLT for $90. Also, don't forget to look on Craigslist. Most folks don't know what they have. You can see this with way-over priced and way-under priced Astro gear. If you are patient, the deals are out there.

I just took a look at eBay for you right now and a stand alone Celestron goto mount (GT or SLT) is not currently for sale (an LCM is but that won't handle your C90 well). I also looked on Craigslist around your area -- nothing. I check these sites 2 or 3 times a week to see what pops up.

Cheers,
JT

With a bit of waiting you can score GT or SLT mount of CN or eBay for a good price. Here is one, the guy open to sell the mount only

I like my SW AzGti but it is more expensive option. I was looking specifically for the mount I can control with my phone from SkySafari app, and it does it nicely. Here is 127mm Mak riding on it.
