Porta II on a Manfrotto tripod?
I'm currently running a Twilight 1 with encoders on a Manfrotto 475B but I'm considering upgrading (?) to a Vixen Porta II. My ST120 fully loaded is about 11 pounds and the TW 1 is a little too shaky when focusing for my tastes. I've not tried adding a plate to the TW 1 arm yet.
Wondering if anybody has / does run a P2 on a Manfrotto or similar and your max load.
Thanks.

Re: Porta II on a Manfrotto tripod?
From what I hear Porta II has the same load capacity as T1. Stabilizing the arm in T1 is the key. Instead of plates (which is obviously a more elegant solution) I warped a couple of bungee cords around. It dampens vibration considerably. I can comfortably observe with 8" SCT (~15lb loaded) on my T1.

Re: Porta II on a Manfrotto tripod?
Fabricating a plate would probably be relatively easy, but I haven't had enough motivation to set up my table saw.
I'll definitely try the bungee cord trick first.

Re: Porta II on a Manfrotto tripod?
I was actually thinking about adapting a Vixen Porta II onto either my Manfrotto 028b or 055pro a couple of months ago.
